Samantha 7

C.C Deville’s solo project trio, (formerly the Stepmothers) blaze through their eleven song debut in under thirty minutes. Tipping their hats to punk, glam and a lot of the 90’s sound along the way, Samantha 7 utilize simplistic riffs, heavy distortion and lots of overdubbed reverb-injected vocals. The effect is a fun, modern garage band sound more comparable to The Offspring and Greenday than Poison, but the tiny Poison influence and C.C.’s roots in a glam band will probably keep this cd from finding any popularity among the audience it’s geared towards. Maybe if it had been released to radio without any mention of C.C it might have had a chance, but I don’t suspect it will see any light under the shadow of Poison. --Scott
