Dickinson, Bruce
Tattooed Millionaire
Originally released in 1990, and re-released twelve years later, I finally got to hear this cd and it wasn’t exactly what I expected… The songs are lighter and simpler in message and music. Sometimes he sounds very comfortable in this loose AC/DC caliber rock, but in other places on the album he sounds out of place and struggling to fit like the proverbial square peg in the round hole. But of course for better or worse, Bruce’s voice is the focal point of the album. And sometimes his voice is better and sometimes it’s worse. Anyway, despite the continued nagging feeling that like Iron Maiden, the Bruce Dickinson solo album could be better if someone else was singing, he does his thing and for me the good still outweighs the bad. –
