Cinderella
Long Cold Winter
As was the popular (and in my opinion problematic) trend in metal in the mid-to-late 80s, the already slightly bluesy Cinderella became almost unbearably so. Breaking out the slide guitar like Shake Me wasn’t even ever their song, Cinderella took the “going back to our blues roots” idea to the limit. There was still a half dozen songs on this album that were pretty good, but nothing as good as anything off of their debut, and most of the second half of the album (or side two) was largely forgettable throwaway material. Alas, this was the beginning of the end for Cinderella, who’s songs would only to continue to get worse over time. --
